European labelling law relevant to bakersHere we have compiled all the European laws on food labelling into readable texts. We have simply omitted those parts that are non-relevant to bakers and we have combined related European directives into one text where appropriate. These texts are however our interpretation of the law and as such should legally be seen as no more than our opinion. BakersSoftware Ltd takes no responsibility for the content of this text or the results thereof. For the complete and definitive text we refer to website of the European Community at http://europa.eu.int. The text on food labelling is the most important, and is the basis for most aspects of food labelling within the European Community. Go to Food labelling. The text on the selling price deals with how products need to be priced within the European Community. Go to Selling price. The text on cocoa and chocolate is only relevant for labelled products where the name contains the word cocoa and/or chocolate. Go to Cocoa / chocolate. The text on quinine and caffeine is only relevant for labelled products that contain any of these substances. Go to Quinine / Caffeine. The text on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is only relevant for labelled products that contain any ingredients that are genetically modified. Due to the traceability requirement, and the publics hostility towards genetically modified food, our advice is simply not to use any ingredients that contain GMOs. Go to Genetically modified. © BakersSoftware.com 2010 = Bakers - food labelling / price calculation / etc. - software |
